Editing models
The MODEL menu, accessible via the top menu, or ALT-M, allows the copying, deleting and editing of class models .
There are two main model types: local and global ....

A local model is a model that lives with the circuit (it is stored inside the GEN file), and masks any global one of the same name. Global models live in MDL files, in the directory where SUMO was installed.
Create models of this type by using SAVEAS for tweaking model parameters; without changing the global model set, or to keep all circuit information within the circuit.
Model files and indexing...
SUMO indexes its model files. Model files end in .MDL;- the index file is called MODELS.IDX. Clicking on the RE-INDEX button forces a re-build of the index, by scanning the model files of all present classes (all classes supported by the current simulator).
The index file gets automatically updated by SUMO during normal use, either forcing an update when a global model is edited or because the files time-stamp shows that it is out of date. Use RE-INDEX when copying model files from one machine to another, running it on the machine receiving the new model files.
Note: Some simulators have the same basic structure as SPICE for their models, but defaults can be different. In order for netlisting to write out every single model parameter instead of just the ones specified in the model library select the FULL-MODELS option in the CLASSES menu. This menu can be opened by clicking-on the simulator name in the top menu-bar (ALT-I), clicking-on EDIT and then on CLASSES .
